This model features a solid black Liftfoil™ center panel for more comfort and durability!
Simply put we added the Liftfoil™ panels in the center for a number of reasons:
- To improve the durability. Yes, this fabric is more durable, which is important in an area where rubbing occurs against a saddle and where some people's thighs rub together.
- To keep the modesty panel, well, modest. This fabric is not diaphanous at all (meaning not see-through). Something we all appreciate not involuntarily seeing on others.
- To make this trishort faster in non-wetsuit races. Liftfoil™ is our swimskin fabric. The Liftfoil™ Speed Trisuit is made entirely out of this swimskin fabric. The addition of these panels on the front and back not only makes this trishort faster, but they eliminate any adverse affects when worn with a wetsuit.
Your hamstrings and quadriceps will thank you for the incredible support offered by the Forza Compressor™ fabric and double legband.
Our famous innovative 400-Mile™ pad floats and stretches which means it can be used as a race piece in a triathlon. On the bike, the pad stretches with the short and follows your skin as it moves with every pedal stroke, eliminating the friction that can cause irritation or rashes.
This 11-panel bib has a Carrera™ Piqué Abdomen panel to hold in your midsection and to give you bit more breathability in front, just above the pad. It is finished with piping along the bibstraps for added comfort and flexibility on long rides.
One of the great features of this short is what it does not have....it does not have elastic leg gripper, eliminating the tight binding around the thighs.
Made of Forza Compressor™ (see Fabric Facts), this short stays down and in place and also features Liquid Mesh™ to keep you cool. It has 3 pockets (one on each leg and one in back) that fit cell phones, mp3 players, fuel packets, and most sunglasses. Curvilinear™ seamlines, contrast flatstitch, and the 400-Mile™ Pad make it the most comfortable bibshort on the market, regardless of price.
Emilio gave these shorts and bibs the "400-Mile" name from product testing consisting of 400 miles over 4 days. His logic was that many shorts feel fine for 100+ mile rides. The real question is how does that saddle feel when you get on the bike the next morning for another 100 miles...and the next morning? This was the inspiration for the design, the pad, and the name.

- What is the SPF/UPF rating for this product?
To date, in the USA there are still no federal regulations for SPF, or UPF ratings in clothing.
Although many manufacturers list SPF/UPF ratings on their clothing tags, they are doing so in a very biased and unwarranted manner. You see, there is not yet an accreditation process to regulate these claims in the USA. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), together with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) are currently exploring the many outside influences on fabrics, such as salt and chlorinated water, stretch, and durability to determine a standard for clothing in relation to sun protection.
So, if a company sells you on their SPF/UPF rated products and says you do not need to wear sunscreen, they will be lying to you just to make a sale.
That said, our fabrics have been tested for their effectiveness against UVB rays by an independent organization. The Skin Cooler fabrics we created block 75% of UVB rays. This is why we recommend you wear sunscreen underneath these products. It is crucial to keep in mind that a sunscreen's SPF/UPF rating refers only to its ability to protect skin from UVB radiation, the rays that cause sunburn. Because we know that UVA damage can be just as insidious, it is essential for the health of your skin that you use a sunscreen that contains the UVA-protecting ingredients of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and/or avobenzone.
We have had all our fabrics tested by an independent testing service and they found that our Forza Fabric blocks 75% of UVB rays.
