 ST3

The Speedtube™ was invented by Emilio De Soto in 2004. While he loved the benefits of swimming faster in a full wetsuit, he felt too warm and claustrophobic. After careful research and testing on how to achieve wetsuit buoyancy without losing speed, the Speedtube was born. The Speedtube floats the hips without sacrificing torso rotation and the natural stroke motion, resulting in better swimming technique. Perfect for racing, training or a replacement for your swim buoy.

Sizing : Please refer to the size chart button above for sizing guidance based on gender. If in doubt, email questions to contact@desotosport.com.

The Speedtube and all individual T1 Wetsuit pieces are completely legal under the rules set by ITU, WTC, USAT and all other governing bodies.  It can only be worn in races that permit wetsuits.

The two-piece design of the T1 Wetsuits offers more comfort and less restriction. Because the top and bottom are not attached, you have much more freedom of movement and there is no “torso-rubber stretch” or shoulder fatigue that occurs with one-piece wetsuits. All T1 models are sold as separates for a more customized and personal fit. With up to seven sizes of tops and bottoms, you have 49 possible size combinations from which to choose. Other features we innovated many years ago include lower necklines and thicker rubber in the legs and hips to help float the largest bones and muscles in the body. More floatation here means more speed. T1 Wetsuits are not filled with gimmicks, just physics.

New Features:

  • Less-toxic bonding agent for people with skin sensitivities

    Favorite Features Remain:

    • 5-panel contour design for an exceptional fit
    • Seams are glued and blind-stitched, making them more durable than the rubber itself
    • 5mm GreenGoma™ #8 Rubber with Super Composite Skin for maximum buoyancy without compromising speed
    • Shin cut high for easy fitting and removal
    • Heavy duty drawstring waist allows adjustability
    • Lined with 4-Way stretch Nylon Lycra® for comfort and to minimize chafing
    • Can be worn alone or with any First Wave or Black Pearl Pullovers and Vests
    • Sleek graphics, no gimmicks
    • Sold as separates for a truly customized fit
    • Sustainability is extremely important to De Soto, click here to learn how we are making a difference
    • T1 Wetsuits 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
    • T1 Wetsuit product care and FAQs
    • Chlorine resistant treatment, but not recommend for repeated use in chlorinated water

Made for swimmers and triathletes who:

    • have a weak kick and want maximum hip flotation
    • overheat easily in other wetsuits
PLEASE BE AWARE:  we created this bottom to avoid overheating in races where the water is warmer than 68 degrees. This is due to the water entering between the top and the bottom at the waist.  It does not cause any drag (if the drawcord is tightened) so you do not swim any slower.  So if you are looking for maximum warmth we recommend the Bibjohn.  If you are comfortable in cooler waters the Speedtube is amazing.

Whether you like to swim for exercise or are on the swim course of a Triathlon, T1 Wetsuits offer you speed, comfort and buoyancy that will make swimming pure pleasure!

    Great even in colder water

I have been using the Speedvest and Speedtube for the last 10 years. Most of my open water swims are in the San Francisco Bay. The water temperature runs 49 to 64 degrees. I weigh 115 pounds or do not have extra insulation but have always been fine. I highly recommend both. Both fit my body perfectly and have always been easy to put on and off. I love the freedom it gives me in the water.

    Magic Pants!

I absolutely love my T1 Speedtube! What a fantastic training tool - they have they taken 6-8 seconds per 100m off of my time by improving my body position, and they help keep me warm in our local pool. It sure helps with those long training sessions. I highly recommend these ‘Magic Pants’!

    Best Wet Suit Ever!

I’ve been using DeSoto wetsuits for about 10 years. I’ve experimented with other suits during that time and nothing compares to what Emilio makes. I recently purchased the T1 Speedtube and they are amazing. I use them to train for my upcoming Ironman in the pool. They lift my hips up to the surface of the water. I feel like I’m gliding in my swims. I’d recommend the T1 Speedtube to anyone who wants to get faster in the water.

    T1 Speedtube

These are the absolute best! Just used them at IRONMAN Wisconsin on a really ruff swim, 69 degrees and super choppy water. They were warm and the perfect fit and feel in the water. Made for a great swim!

The size chart above should serve as a general guide. If you would like assistance in determining the proper size, please send the following information to contact@desotosport.com.

WEIGHT - Accuracy helps us provide a more accurate size for you.
CHEST - Fullest part of breast, measured as the largest part of circumference right over the pectoral muscle.
WAIST -  Circumference measured at the belly-button line - this is NOT the same as your pants waist size.
HIPS - Circumference measured at the widest point, NOT at your hips where your belt may go. Typically this will measure just a few inches below your hip bones and around the largest part of the glutes.

If you do not have a tape measure and you need something to measure with, use a belt, or smart phone power cord, and a ruler.
